Yeah, I have actually. Obviously, real-life performance plays the initial role, but what follows exactly, is anyone's guess. Personally, I think they graph out exactly what an individual performance will get you - be it, a + or -, or multiple digits. It really would be interesting to see how they come to all their madness when it comes to player ratings.
