 Next week is shaping up to be a big one for Madden NFL 12. A teaser video that will apparently reveal some new features is planned for early in the week. Now though EA Sports is starting to build anticipation for an announcement to come on Monday. Its the “you’re all involved” part that attracted my immediate attention. There have been been some (unsubstantiated) rumors relating to the cover athlete selection process, that it could be like NCAA Football 12 and Madden 11 with the cover being voted upon by fans, and possibly even in a ‘March Madness’ style tournament. Alluding to everyone being “involved” would suggest something along those lines. The other thing to remember is that EA is facing a somewhat confused consumer base due to the labor strife between the NFL and now decertified NFLPA that has led to the lockout. EA has been making an effort to get the message out that not only will Madden 12 release but it will do so as usual with all the players and even incoming rookies. This first news will likely be intended to further establish that realization with consumers. |
