img180.imageshack.us/img180/4482/48834602.jpg30-March-2010 As I’ve said here in this space many times, we take fan feedback seriously and never before has it helped shape the development process as it does today at EA SPORTS. The Madden NFL team, in particular, have become more connected with our fans than ever before, and that connection is being taken to all new levels with Madden NFL 11. We got good feedback last year to our Madden producer blog series, but this year we’re going to do more than just take you behind the scenes - this year, fans will decide the Madden cover athlete, they can influence rookie player ratings, vote on the demo experience and more. Last month we announced the Doritos Madden NFL 11 “Change the Game” promotion that allowed fans to vote on the Madden cover athlete for the first time ever. The choice was between Jared Allen, Reggie Wayne and Drew Brees. In what Doritos is calling its biggest consumer promotion yet, the fans have spoken and the race came down to the final days. We’ll reveal the cover athlete during the 2010 NFL Draft on April 22nd (airing in prime time this year), so look for more details in the coming weeks and be sure to tune in! In late July, we will be providing our most robust Madden NFL game demo ever and we want you to determine what teams are featured. Voting is now open through April 26th at the Madden NFL website for one of three scenarios: a Super Bowl rematch, or a replay of one of the Conference Championship games. Another first for EA SPORTS during the NFL Draft will be the ability for fans to influence rookie ratings in Madden NFL 11. On draft day, ratings guru Donny Moore will post what he thinks the rookie ratings should be. Fans can then go to the Madden NFL website and enter their own ratings for each rookie. Donny will use the fan average as the player rating baseline for when training camp and pre-season begins. This is a great way for fans to become more involved in what is always one of the most hotly debated subjects each year when Madden is released. This is just the beginning of our countdown to the launch of Madden NFL 11. We’re excited to bring fans deeper into the development process this year and are excited to reveal more details as we get closer to August. On a personal note, I was delighted that my early morning wakeup call on Sunday resulted in me witnessing Liverpool’s best performance of the season so far (including a sublime goal from Torres), but I fear that this may be too little, too late. Champion’s League participation is a minimum bar for a club of our stature, and it’s seems that we are staring at the very real possibility that we won’t be in that exalted company next season. Fresh blood up front is badly needed, and we have never adequately replaced Alonso in midfield. Time for the American ownership tandem to step up and deliver on the required next phase of their investment… Final note - congrats to the FIFA 10 team on winning two BAFTA”s in London last week. The trophy cabinet is now creaking under the weight of 50 awards for this standout title… www.easports.com/blogs/itsinthegame/post/slug/connecting-with-fans-in-new-ways

I'm always for new and innovative ways to allow 'us' the fans of the game -- the ability to influence it in hopefully, a positive way.
