It now looks like the Jets will miss the playoffs after having surged to an 8-3 record only to lose three of their last four games. Along with that Brett Favre has been terrible throwing only a single TD to six INTs. It is only a matter of time before media outlets start chalking up the poor performance of the team and Favre to the Madden curse. The fascination around the supposed curse will now continue as there isn’t much room to argue that Favre broke it this year. Now everything will be scrutinized. From the circus that surrounded his will he or won’t he return. To asking for a trade and accepting one to the Jets. And now to his late season struggles. The downward spiral of the team and his performance will have gone to show that even a legend can’t overcome the “curse” that is attached to gracing the cover of Madden. He leads the league in INTs yet somehow made the Pro Bowl and has been overshadowed by what Chad Pennington has been able to do with the Dolphins. Surely all of this will be attributed to the Madden curse. Rather than take into account that the cover was held by a 39 year old QB clearly on the downside of his career learning a brand new system with all new teammates it is much more convenient to ignore all that. Not to mention that probably three quarters of the players in the league would be considered cursed if they had been on the cover with the seasons they are having. So the Madden curse will continue to be talked about. Not just next year, but prepare for an onslaught of mentions relating to Favre in the near future. Do you believe Favre’s year was affected at all by being on the cover?

I disagree...his 22 interceptions are NOT good...Pennington's 7 interceptions on the other hand is a really good season...

I disagree...his 22 interceptions are NOT good...Pennington's 7 interceptions on the other hand is a really good season... It's like comparing a Sentra to a Ferrari ... more often than not, the Ferrari's going to take more chances -- because, it can. Pennington can't take chances because his arm won't allow him to -- so, he's obviously, going to be more efficient .. and actually, always has been vs Farve's #'s. Farve's int ratio to touchdowns has always been somewhat suspect. Unfortunately, down the stretch this season when he needed to be the Farve of old, he came up short .. and sure, you could attribute this to his age, bad judgment or poor coaching -- but one thing is certain, I've never been sold on Manginous, anyway. Due to Manginous getting fired today, and pending a Farve clean bill of health on the shoulder, I say he returns. Do I want him to return? I don't care really, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

What did Pennington do for the Jets last yr? they were bad....Pennington is a perfect fit for Parcells system, and he is thriving in it. Give Parcells and Sparano credit for Penningtons success this year And on the flip side Farve got put into a system with players that don't fit his playing style and took the team on his shoulders, he was the guy in NY....Pennington was never the guy in NY.

you cant compare them... farve has a cannon an is willing to take chances all over the field which sometimes is good and sometimes is bad.... chad is an accurate quarterback who depends on a running game or hes gunna be in troule... depending on the system you want to run.. i always want a QB that can wing it.. becasue you can move the ball down feild quickly ...
