It didn’t take long for the Denver Broncos to ship Tim Tebow out of town. The New York Jets have reportedly acquired Tebow for a 4th round pick. The Jets will likely utilize Tebow to both push starter Mark Sanchez, who just got a large contract extension, and in special packages. The thought of Tebow entering the largest media market and being combined with Rex Ryan is about the worst case scenario that could ever have been imagined.

Unusually quiet in recent weeks, the New York Jets shattered the calm Wednesday by completing a trade for polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow, the team confirmed. The Jets will send a fourth-round pick to the Denver Broncos, a source said. Tebow, a former first-round pick, went on the trading block Monday when the Broncos secured free agent Peyton Manning, who signed a five-year, $96 million contract. Several teams expressed interest, including Tebow's hometown Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Jets -- perceived as a sleeper at the outset -- pulled off the splashiest trade of the offseason. Tebow will join a cast of backups behind incumbent Mark Sanchez, but his presence could ignite a quarterback controversy. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie tweeted before the trade that "we don't need Tebow," expressing his confidence in Sanchez and the current roster. The timing of the trade is curious. Two weeks ago, the Jets gave Sanchez a three-year, $40.5 million contract extension, professing their faith in him even though he regressed in certain areas last season. They signed former Detroit Lion backup Drew Stanton last week to be their No. 2 quarterback, handing him a $500,000 signing bonus. They also have former Alabama star Greg McElroy. The Jets see Tebow as a change-of-pace player with the ability to run the wildcat offense. They've used the wildcat in recent years, but cut back last season with the departure of Brad Smith. The new offensive coordinator is Tony Sparano, who introduced the wildcat to the NFL as coach of the Miami Dolphins. Coach Rex Ryan also wants the Jest to get back to being a power-running team, but they have only one proven back, Shonn Greene. The 6-foot-3, 238-pound Tebow rushed for 660 yards last season, including a 20-yard touchdown in the final minute to beat the Jets, 17-14, in a November game at Denver. A few weeks earlier, Tebow beat Sparano and the Dolphins with one of his trademark comebacks, overcoming a 15-0 deficit to win in overtime, 18-15. There's also some thought that Tebow and his clean-cut image could help polish the negative perception of the locker room, torn by discord last season. But others close to the team said that was no factor whatsoever in the decision. source

Jets acquired QB Tim Tebow and a 2012 seventh-round pick from the Broncos in exchange for fourth- and sixth-round picks in 2012.

JAG IS CONTENT.. with a shane blabbert.... i mean Blaine Gabbert... me an jag are in the same bout we have shitty teams with no offenses..(at least you have MJD);( Not really content, I just realize he's one of the youngest players in the entire NFL. He's the youngest player ever to start 14 games, and he only had one year of starts under his belt in college. He's raw, wasn't meant to start for a few seasons. So there's still hope of him turning into something solid. I don't feel Tebow has that potential.

Sorry Jag...
Holdup in Jets-Tebow trade is $5M 'kick back'
The Denver Post reports that the holdup in Wednesday's Tim Tebow trade to the Jets is a provision requiring New York to pay a "kick back" worth north of $5 million in order to acquire him. Per the Denver Post's Mike Klis, the Jets are understandably "balking" at paying the kick back, and "there is a decent chance this (trade) may die."
Due to the holdup caused by language in Tebow's contract, the Jets are in danger of losing out on a trade they went so far as to announce on their club website's Twitter page. The Jaguars are apparently willing to pay the $5 million kick-back option required to acquire Tebow.

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi is "hearing" that the Jaguars are close to acquiring Tim Tebow from the Broncos. Lombardi previously wrote on his Twitter account that the Jags had acquired Tebow, but he was citing a fake Tebow Twitter page. "But this is not fake," Lombardi now claims. "I am hearing the Jags are close to making this happen." If so, the Jaguars will have swooped in to acquire Tebow from the Jets' clutches. The Jets thought their midday trade of Tebow was official, before reading the details of his contract and reneging on the initial deal.

He's a Jet...and I personally just don't get this trade?? He is going to get eatin' alive by NY media and the second Sanchez does bad there will be a call for Tebow and all he'll with break loose for the Jets. I'm in the same BOAT as Jag though, I didn't want Tebow in Miami, even with our shit offense. I'm interested in seeing what Garrard can do on this one year deal, if nothing, at least push Moore to do better.

Sanchez loses games. Tebow wins games. I don't get all the hate, if he wins he plays, if he doesn't he doesn't play.

So then Sanchez will start and Tebow will come in to run some wildcat and goal line. Sounds like a good mix. He is just another backup QB. You are gonna need a backup in Jacksonville. Since Tebow sucks so bad he would be on the bench behind Gabbert anyway.
I get all the Jets games here unfortunately and Sanchez definitely does not look like anything special, reminds me of Dilfer just managing the game and trying not to lose the game for the team. No great throws, not much zip, and average accuracy.
I don't love Tebow either and didn't like Denver taking him in the draft, but I just don't know why people hate him so much.
